BLUES AND GREENFIELD FOR PREMIER LEAGUE

As soon as the ball left the trusted right foot of Mayobridge midfielder Connal Poland at Derrylecka playing fields on Saturday, the blues party began.
It was a cracking strike to light up what had been a quiet game between the two top sides in Division 1 of the Carnbane League. Poland’s curling shot beat Greenfield goalkeeper Conor Fox on the hour mark, and with the Bridge only needing a point to win the league it looked like game over.
Greenfield having battled with the Bridge all season were not for giving up and James McParland slotted home a 82nd minute penalty to get the greens back in contention.

A late free from Mayobridge forward Kevin O’Rourke flew into the Greenfield net with two minutes remaining to seal the deal for the blues. Both Mayobridge and Greenfield will play in the Carnbane Premier League next season after Saturday’s result.
