MAYOBRIDGE 0-09 BURREN 1-15 ST PATRICK’S PARK 4.4.25

A bullet shot from the left boot of former Down County star, Liam Kerr, which lodged itself in the back of Michael Fitzpatrick’s net, was the highlight moment of Friday night’s Division 1 clash at St. Patrick’s Park.
Kerr’s goal hit the net 23 minutes into a half where the visitors bossed the midfield, with Ryan Treanor and Cormac Ward getting an upper hand on Bridge pair Sean O’Hare and Daniel Catterson.
Burren led 0-05 to 0-00 until Caolan Gallagher opened the Mayobridge account with a free on 19 minutes. Burren used the strong wind to their advantage, with Niall Toner and Treanor particularly dangerous as the teams left the field for halftime with the visitors leading 1-09 to 0.02.

Ronan Sexton’s halftime chat seemed to lift the spirit of the young sky blue team and with the wind on their back they went hard at Burren.
Although Niall Toner got the opening score of the half, the Bridge were starting to look a better team, and ace marksman Caolan Gallagher soon hit two 2-pointers. But Burren seemed to control the storm well, with Shay McArdle showing his experience around the halfback line.
Burren finished strong over the last ten minutes to see out the game winning 1-15 to 0-09
