Michael Leddy scored in each half as leaders Warrenpoint Town hit two goals without reply past Knockbreda at Milltown.

Leddy opened the scoring on 14 minutes after Diarmuid O’Hanlon found him in space to fire into the corner of the net.

And he doubled up seven minutes into the second half with a stunning finish after Declan Loye had teed him up from Rory Powell’s initial ball.

Powell and his midfield partner and stand-in captain, Jim O’Hanlon, were the main instigators of Knockbreda’s woes at a cold but sunny Milltown. Both players tormented the visitors’ defense time and time again.

Declan Loye led the line well in attack for the Seasiders with his relentless running and aggression. Defenders Christopher Crane and Callan Farley kept things tight at the back while goalkeeper Daniel Devine looked very assured between the posts.

But the day was all about man of the match, Michael Leddy and his two fine goals. Warrenpoint now top the Playr-Fit Intermediate League by 3 points with a game in hand over their closest rivals, Dollingstown.
