CELTIC GO COCK A HOOPS

A 51st minute back heeled effort from Newry Celtic front man, Conor Shields, was just about enough to see off the brave challenge from Glenavy in the second Mid Ulster Shield semi-final at Annagh on Friday night.
In a very tight affair at the BMG Arena, the Newry side held their nerve in the second half. to book a place in the Shield final with fellow Newry side, and current holders, Cleary Celtic on Easter Monday.
A solid second period was needed from the celts, and after the Shields goal, midfielders Stephen Wylie and Stephen Hughes got to grips with Glenavy pair, Michael Johnson and Pearse Connaughton in around the middle of the park.
Hoops goakeeper Mark McReynolds made a couple of important saves during the second half, and winger Ryan Fearon tormented the Gleavy defence at every opportunity.
